Axl Rose scores a new gig as the lead singer of AC/DC

If you care to, you’ll soon be able to get a “Rock ‘n’ Roll Train” to “Paradise City.”

In an unusual amalgamation of two classic rock bands, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose will front AC/DC on its Rock or Bust world tour this summer.

In a statement on the band’s website, AC/DC thanked current frontman Brian Johnson for his work with the classic Australian group, whose original singer, Bon Scott, died in 1980. Johnson was ordered to stop touring in March after doctors warned he was at risk of complete hearing loss.

Rose will be taking up the mantel for the band’s European stadium tour, which begins May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal. He’ll also join the band for its rescheduled U.S. tour dates, which are yet to be announced.

Rose will have a big year, following up his AC/DC stint with a series of Gun N’ Roses dates as part of that band’s Not In This Lifetime stadium tour in North America.

For his part, Rose seemed happy with the news if the single lightning bolt emoji delivered on his Twitter account is any indication. Gun N’ Roses reunited to play a set at the Coachella music festival in California Saturday.
